Black Forest Cuckoo Clocks Are Now Re-Modeled To Generate Several New Varieties

Black Forest Cuckoo Wall Clock
Cuckoo clocks originated in the 19th Century from some areas in Germany referred to as Black Forests. Hence the earliest varieties of such clocks were called Black Forest Cuckoo Clocks. These clocks were made by the farmers during the winter season when they could not practice farming due to the excessive snowfall. The material of the clock was then only wood. The wood, however, was collected from various kinds of trees.

The basics about Black Forest Cuckoo Clock

The working mechanism was also very basic and simple in nature, considering the scarce availability of resources. With time more and more kinds of clocks were introduced. They had different structures and working mechanisms. Thus there came into being several other names in the market for cuckoo clocks. There is a certain chalet style of Black Forest Cuckoo Clocks available now. It is equally popular and is also being experimented with. It has a chalet-shaped chamber which houses the cuckoo. There are several varieties of designs engraved in this style. These include designs from various part of the world.

The Chalet style and other Styles

Some of these chalet styled clocks have music boxes fitted to them and feature dancing figurines along with the tone. The music in a Chalet cuckoo clock is any German folk tune. The chalet style is also available in the black forest form. Its working mechanism is same as that of a black forest variety. The Hones cuckoo clock is another very popular variety of cuckoo clock. The artisans from Hones in Germany are extremely skilled and carve out extraordinary designs on the clock body. Thus the black forest cuckoo clock is the father of all cuckoo clocks. Modern ones have the same skeleton but are just more decked up.
